What is Re-age IPL Hair Removal System?

It's a non-invasive light therapy device specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all parts of the body. Different parameters (fluency, pulses number up to 3 during the same shot, light and pause duration, handle cooling temperature) offers a complete range of protocols for each type of hair (color, size) and skin (photo types)

How does the Re-age IPL remove hair?

IPL uses pulsed light to remove hair and impair hair regrowth. First, a cool gel and a hand-held treatment unit are gently applied to the skin. Then, in a flash, the light is conducted on the hair follicles by the melanin of the hair. It safely penetrates the skin and disable all hair follicles simultaneously.

What is IPL treatment like?

When IPL's pulse of light is delivered to the hair, (one or up to three pulse depending of the hair and skin type) the cooling system of the handle avoids you to feel a mild sting or pinch. No local anesthesia or pain medication is required, and in case of skin redness a dermatological cream can be used

How many treatments are required?

Several treatments may be needed, with each session usually lasting 10-30 minutes, depending on the size of the area to be treated. Several treatments are also needed because the hair have different growing phases. The number of treatment varies upon your hair color and location on the body.

Are there any life restrictions after one treatment?

No. You can return to work the same day and resume all regular activities. You should of course limit sun exposure, which is always a good idea.

How does IPL compare with commonly used hair removal methods?

Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods that must be repeated on a regular basis. Hair removal with IPL offers a faster; easier and long lasting alternative to existing hair removal methods.

How does IPL treatment compare with electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to destroy them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals because it's a "one by one" treatment. IPL non-invasively treats hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. So, in a few minutes, IPL can effectively treat an area that would take over an hour with electrolysis.

Why treat acne with IPL?

Drug resistant acne is not uncommon and can be devastating. If the usual medical treatments fail or are inadequate in treating the outbreaks, the person can feel desperate and depressed. Teenagers are especially prone to depression and social withdrawal from acne related problems. The social isolation and stigma they suffer can have long lasting effects including clinical depression and in some cases, suicidal thoughts.

Is the treatment painful or dangerous?

New light based devices have been developed to treat all types of acne from mild forms to the most severe. They work by different mechanisms but the most successful are those that affect bacterial growth and also reduce oil gland function. Light based acne treatments are revolutionizing the treatment of acne with easy, quick and effective suppression of acne without the problems associated with daily medical therapies. The Re-age IPL has a water cooling system with additional freeze option and a 3 pulses shooting system witch allows to maximize the light intensity of the treatment while avoiding the pain symptoms and the inflammatory risks.

How long does one treatment last?

The session lasts about ten minutes on the whole area and although session may be needed depending of the inflammatory situation and the individual reaction of the skin. Most of the patients feel only a mild snapping sensation but with the additional options of the Re-age IPL this sensation can be avoided. For patients suffering from the after effects of acne, namely pitting and scarring of the face, there is additional help. The procollagen effect of the IPL helps to reduce the deepness of the scars and normalize the skin complexion.

Is it possible to combine IPL treatment with microdermoabrasion?

Of course both techniques are used in the acne protocols but it's only a matter of correct time and treatment intensity. A multidisciplinary approach is often recommended. Specific drugs combined with IPL treatment are indicated at the beginning of the treatment while microdermoabrasion is indicated to treat the skin after effects of the acne.
